Embarrassing moments I've kept a secret #1

I was in 6th grade and it was "run day". This happens every Wednesday. You have all of P.E. class to run around the park 2-3 times in order to get X amount of laps in by the end of the trimester. I tired to do about 4 so I could get some silly certificate saying I was an awesome runner...lame-o 6th grader. SO in 6th grade I was a pretty Fugly looking girl. I parted my hair straight down the middle and it was cut to my chin, I hadn't had braces yet so when I smiled you could only see four teeth cause i had a huge over bite. (You know how big my smile is...imagine only being able to see FOUR TEETH?!?!?!)My nose was always peeling because I did Junior guards all summer long and I was REALLY short for my grade. Yes very ugly girl.

So this boy I like in my humanities class (Eric Mueller for those of you who know him) was also in my PE class. I had never spoken to him before and this was the day I was going to say hi :D
It was Run DAY! So I did my first lap and didn't find him, my second lap, didn't find him, by my third lap i saw him running with some of his friends...I tried to go next to him on his right but there was a group of people in that space. SO i decided I'd go on his left but there was a group of people there too. Now if you can picture this there was the playground with sand as the floor to the left with a little curb keeping the sand inside that area then the pavement we were walking in. So I thought I'll just run on the curb to go around this group then I'll be right next to him and start up a conversation!

I started running on the very skinny curb. I passed the group- YES! Then right as I lifted up my right arm to wave and say "Hey Eric!"...There was some sand on the curb and as I was waving I slipped off the curb onto the ground and skidded across the pavement on my elbow. I was left sprawled on the floor looking up at him with my lovesick-disappointed-puppy-eyes with my right arm stretched out on the floor just watching him jog away in the other direction. He never looked back. He didn't even hear me or notice I fell. I still have a gnarly scar on my right elbow to this day....

Need New Music?

So I'm in this amazing class at The New School called "The Practical Side of Performance". The class is taught by Rebecca Stenn and is AMAZING! The class is full of musicians, writers, actors, dancers, singers, directors, you name it! Each week a different guest from our various fields come in and give a talk about their successes and failures as an artist and gives us invaluable advice! I've learned so much from all the speakers and my classmates regardless if they're interested in the same kind of work as I am. I am just so proud of my class mates because they are all so brilliant and talented. We def. are trying to promote supporting one another... So...

Today I went to Webster Hall to go hear my friends sound, "Technicolor Lenses" and they were awesome!!! It's a combination of electronic rapp with various beats, electric guitar, drums, with undertones of rock, metal, R&B and even Pop. His musicality was unreal, and stage presence was natural and authentic; he just completely took over the stage. I was so impressed! It was the kind of music I could dance to all night long but simultaneously be inspired by it for all his messages were so smart and uplifting. The amount of text he was able to trickle off his tongue was massive and powerful! I fully recommend checking "Technicolor Lenses" out even if it doesn't sound like your normal cup-of-tea. Check their myspace, youtube, facebook, or soundcloud but overall I would go see them live. It was quite an experience!!!

To Bunny? Or not to Bunny... That IS the question

So.... I'm thinking about getting a lil' dwarf bunny:) Barbie Johnson (my mother) advised me last year when I really wanted a puppy not to get one. I had to physically stop myself daily because they are just the cutest and I can't handle it!!! She suggested if In a year from then I still wnated one...then consider it...So...it's been a year and a half AND I STILL WANT A FUZZY FRIEND IN MY APPT!!!! But...recognizing that puppies are basically children and take a lot of work i'm thinking of getting a LIL' BUNNZIEPOOP!!! See the benefits: -Much tinier than a puppy -still fuzzy and cuddly -doesn't need a walk -can stay home on it's own for longer periods of time than a puppy and be okay -cheaper than a puppy -in the summer it's cage can just sit on the fire escape so it's not too smelly -everywhere has outdoor seating so i can get him a little leash and he can go out to eat with my friends and I -HIs little carrier will be tiny so he'll be easy to travel with - if i clean his cage daily he wont be smelly -he eats veggies and water just like me so we can share food -his poop is easy to get because they are in nicely packed pellets -he's just the right amount of loving to have a friend in my room with me!!! -he doens't need a lot of room so my small appt. is perfect -travel on plane easier than a dog i'm sure... I NEED your advice!!! i can't think of any reasons not to get this bunny...but i'm sure there are some. But do they really outway the perfectness of a bunny lil' fuzzy friend who i will name Kevin?!

SO did we establish my life is a movie yet???

So I went to Starbucks this afternoon (as usual) and this BEAUTIFUL Brazilian guy in his early 20's comes up to me and say's,
"you're really beautiful. What's your name I would like to give you one of my CD's"
"Hi, I'm Jillene (drooling) how much are you selling them for?"
"no-no-no not selling"
"Oh. So your just giving away your music?"
"No-(smiling) I want to give one to you...meet me at my table when you've got your drink"
"(more dooling)...oh!... well...OK!"

As i sit down he hands me his CD that isn't some trashy i burned it myself disc...but this guy has a record label. He hands me a real CD that i should have bought at Best Buy wrapped in it's CD plastic that Cd's should come in with the most beautiful CD art on it. Just as I was getting to know more about him and his music ANOTHER guy sitting next to us says...

"sorry to interrupt but you have a beautiful body (i'm now gushing) and since you said you play the bass and i play the bass i thought this is my sign from God..."
" HI there! what's your name?"
"I'm Dj Green Arrow. I'm actually the fastest rapper in the guiness world records book."
"Your kidding..."

He then proceeds to first free style over some beautiful music that was already playing in Starbucks THEN proceeds to do the fastest rap i've ever heard in my life!! I googled him and he's totally legit! I did in fact meet the fastest rapper in America?!?!?
THEN the Jamaican man sitting next to me with beautiful long dreads tied up in a pony-tail said...
"wait are you all musicians?"
" No i'm actually a dancer and actress" - i say
" Oh well i'm a musician and Film maker. I make feature films and do reality shows"
" Really?!? do you need an intern for your current movie?"
" Actually yes i DO and I need some actresses if your interested?"
"ABSOLUTELY!!!"
" Great. I'm actually Snoop Doggs partner. My name is ________ but you can call me Patrice".
" Wow how is it working with him?"
" He's great. Very focused man...but he does smoke a lot..."

We all exchanged smiles and information and i'm so excited to work with each of them! THe Brazilian boy wants me to be in his music video (his voice is gorgeous!!!!!) and the film-maker wants me to intern with him and act in his film and the rapper wants to stay in touch about future gigs.... WHAT THE HECK?!?!?God is so good! All i have to do is walk through the doors that he opens and be the positive light I was created to be. Light attracts others! Positivity attracts others! God's presence living in me attracts others!"

God you are so amazing for creating your divine appointments in ways I could never imagine!! Thank you so much!!

In hopes of building your faith,

Remember...my Life is a movie...

So I was flying home from LA sunday night and my flight landed at JFK around 12:45a.m. I was thinking the whole plane ride...do i take the train or do i spend the $50 on a cab? Oh the things i could buy with $50...clothes, my groceries for the week, Starbucks galore... Anything seemed better than spending it on a cab! But, it was just SO late and i wanted to just be back in my appt...so I walked into the Cab line.
As I was standing there I remember my dad's voice when I first moved to NYC say " whenever you need a cab just find someone to split it with. Then it's not expensive". Just then I felt like the Holyspirit was telling me to ask the young woman standing in front of me. "But God... thats SO awkward?!?!?...Ok I'll do it". C'mon Jillene, Just put on a smile and talk!

" Hey there, um... are you taking a cab to Manhattan "?I said
" A...yeah actually I am..."
" Oh sweet! what part?"I questioned...
"Greenwhich village..."
" NO way I live in Greenwhich village!! Do you wanna share a cab?"
" Yeah that sounds great"
"So what streets in greenwhich village do you gte off at?"
" Bleecker and Macdougal"
" I LIVE ON BLEECKER AND MACDOUGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!"

How crazy is that? The girl in front of me in line living ACROSS the street from me!We ended up sharing a cab and chatting the whole way. She was super involved in the distribution of films to different portals like iTunes and Hulu. All her experience was so valuable and she gave me so many ways to find a great internship. There is truley power in going outside your comfort zone.
GOd thank you for that amazing talk I got to have as well as half of the cab ride paid for...You are just so full of blessings....

In hopes of building your faith,
J.
